PLAYING WITH LANGUAGE Workshop with Sara Azarmi

Oktober 26 @ 14:00 - 17:00

In this playful and inclusive writing workshop, we invite you to explore language in all its forms! Drawing inspiration from images and the works of authors like Herta Müller (Vater telefoniert mit den Fliegen), Yoko Tawada, and Anne Carson, we’ll experiment with different kinds of writing, from prose to poetry and hybrid forms. No matter if you’re out of practice, short on inspiration, or new to writing, this workshop will provide a relaxed space to engage with words, discover your creativity, and play with the possibilities of language. Together, we’ll share ideas, respond to visual prompts, engage in writing exercises and see what happens when we bring disparate elements together to form something new. Language: Feel free to write in German or English. Class will be held in English & “Denglisch” is also welcome! No prior writing experience necessary! No registration necessary.

Sara Azarmi was born in Chicago and has lived in Germany for over 15 years. She currently resides in Tübingen, where she writes in her free time and teaches at the German- American Institute. She holds a Master’s degree in Literary and Cultural Theory from the University of Tübingen and has studied creative writing at the Studio Literatur und Theater, as well as at other universities in Germany and the USA. In her writing, she enjoys experimenting with form and genre, often blending lyric and prose or incorporating visual elements.
